Videos are everywhere in the modern world. Not a day goes by that we don’t hear about a dance, comment, or piece of content that has gone viral. The visual nature of videos is a great way to stop people scrolling and engage with your business. Platforms such as TikTok, Instagram & YouTube have the power to reach large audiences.
Wyzowl recently reported that 86% of companies saw an increase in lead generation through videos, and 94% saw an increase in user understanding. Gone are the days when TikTok was just for random dances. Businesses from small car dealerships and boutiques rub shoulders with celebrities like Tom Cruise as they find new ways to connect with their audiences and spread their messages. And, when you consider that 93% of companies that used videos acquired new clients, it is well worth getting out the tripod.
This post will explore five awesome reasons to use videos to spread your messages to your audience.
1. Know-Like-Trust
People buy from people!
Having videos on your site or social media is a powerful way to make connections. Your potential clients will get to see your face and hear your voice which gives them a sense of what it would be like to work with. It will elicit a reaction and help them feel connected with you.
Remember to show up authentically and maintain eye contact with your audience when recording.
If you work directly with clients, the last thing you want to do is create an online persona that is entirely different from how you are in the ‘real world.” It will create a massive disconnect and probably cost you sales.
Showing up authentically lets your audience know you, trust you, and like you enough to work with you. And, it is a great vibe when you get on a call with a potential client, and they say they feel like they know you.
2. Helps Your Website Ranking on Google
Google loves video! As the owner of YouTube, this should come as no surprise. Type in a search term in Google, and you’ll usually get recommendations for videos on YouTube. Not only that, but you could also get recommendations for videos on a specific website.
One of the ways that Google measures the value of a website is how long people spend on the site. Quality videos improve the ‘dwell time’ on a site and generally perform better than text-only pages.
Having an introduction video on your homepage or about section is an excellent way to share more about you, your business, and how you can support your people. You can also add videos on your blogs or other pages to add extra value to your content.
3. Demonstration
Videos are an excellent way to demonstrate your expertise, products, and services. Seeing you in action or showing the ways people can use your products will help your audience make buying decisions.
Make sure that you use these platforms to highlight how your strengths, skills, products, and services can solve problems for your clients. And, what is simple for you might be life changing for other people, so address the everyday, mundane and simple solutions that you solve for your clients.
You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve in 30 seconds. I know accountants that break down a subject into 30 bite-sized tutorials for their audiences. Enormous value in a short time frame is a winning combination in our scrolling mad world!
4. Talk To A Global Audience
Videos allow you to speak with a global audience from the comfort of your home! Instagram Reels and TikTok videos have insane reach, and you can quickly get your message in front of a large audience.
These platforms are not just for kids, and many businesses - small and big - are using these platforms to grow their brand and increase their audience. Daily, I interact with people from all over the world.
It takes time, but focusing on clear messaging and showing up as yourself will generate results.
Note: If you are starting out, remember that less is more. Popping a 10-minute video on Linkedin is likely to get no interaction. Instead, break it down into small chunks of value. One tip, hack or benefit per video.
As a general rule, 15 to 30 seconds is the optimum length of videos on most social media channels, although you can stretch that to around 2 minutes on LinkedIn.
5. Showcase Your Business To The World
You have a blank canvas on social media, and there is no right or wrong way to do it, despite what the gurus say! It is the place to bring your business to life and showcase what makes you unique.
It is a place for your personality to shine and for you to share your unique story. You can sing, dance, add humour, or use it to create a visual representation of what you and your brand stand for. These powerful images are a fantastic way to connect with your people.
The only limit you have is your imagination!
It’s showtime!
Lights, Camera, Awesome!
